Local Photographer Joins International Non-Profit Council
CHESAPEAKE, VA, November 28, 2024—Professional photographer Ty Swartz of Swartz Portraits in Chesapeake, Virginia, was elected to the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) Council for the 2024 – 2027 term. Its members ultimately govern an international nonprofit association with more than 35,000 members through such council representatives.

PPA Councilors are professional photographers who volunteer their time and service to act as the voice of PPA in their state. They play a crucial role in sharing the PPA message to current and prospective PPA members. Duties include discussing and voting on changes to the bylaws and the association's leadership (via the election of the Nominating Committee and the Board of Directors).
Ty Swartz, a Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, and Certified Professional Photographer with over 40 years of experience, is a visionary artist who seamlessly blends creative talent with business acumen. A retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer serving two decades as a photojournalist and communications expert, Ty has captured compelling moments across 65 countries, honing his unique perspective on visual storytelling.
Ty holds a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development, an MBA specializing in Marketing and Project Management, and a Master of Education. He's pursuing a Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership, reflecting his commitment to lifelong learning and education.
Ty is a fine-art portrait photographer specializing in high school senior photos. An Adobe Certified Professional in Visual and Video Design, Ty's passion extends beyond his artistry to mentoring aspiring photographers. He shares not only his technical expertise but also valuable insights into the business aspects of photography, helping to shape the next generation of visual artists. Ty's workshops and seminars blend practical skills and entrepreneurial wisdom.
